Pre Care
-Avoid waxing, threading, tweezing, bleaching for 4 weeks prior and throughout the course of treatments.
-Only shaving is allowed.
-Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, self tanner, and chemical exfoliants to the treatment area for 2 weeks prior AND post.
-Shave the area 24 hours prior.
-Come to your appointment clean, do not apply any lotions.
Post Care
-Slight redness and bumps may be present immediately after treatment accompanied by a sunburn sensation. This is normal and typically resolves in a few hours.
-Sometimes scabbing may occur. Do not pick or scratch, apply antibiotic ointment and allow to fall off on their own.
-Avoid hot water directly on the treated area for 48 hours, warm-cool showers are ok.
-Do not scrub/rub the area for 48 hours.
-Avoid excessive sweating, baths, jacuzzis, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms for 48 hours.
-Do not apply any lotions for 48 hours, make sure your deodorant is aluminum free.
-Exfoliating 72 hours after your treatment will help prevent ingrown hairs and speed up shedding.
-The appearance of hair growth is normal for 1-4 weeks as the hairs are being pushed out of the follicles.
-Direct sun exposure should be avoided during the course of your treatments and SPF 30 or higher should be applied to any exposed areas during the daytime.
TREATMENT PLAN
Most people can expect a 90-95% reduction in hairs in 4-8 treatments. These are done in 4-8 week intervals. An annual touch up treatment is usually desired.

NEO - PFB PSEUDOFOLLICULITIS BARBAE / INGROWN HAIRS
PFB (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, i.e. ingrown hairs, razor bumps or beard bumps) is an irritating condition that is commonly caused by shaving. It often appears in patients of darker skin types, including tanned skin and skin types IV through VI. The laser selectively targets melanin in the underlying hair and follicle, as well as hyperpigmentation surrounding the lesion. Due to the unique 650-microsecond pulse duration being 50 to 500 times shorter than pulses durations typically used for hair removal by other laser technologies, the energy passes through the skin quickly and does not overheat the epidermal melanin to effectively treat the condition.
Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB) is an irritating skin condition most common in Fitzpatrick skin types IV through VI. Typically caused by shaving, patients with PFB suffer from ingrown hairs and bumps on the face, neck, and other areas of the body.
Conventional hair removal methods, like electrolysis and depilatories, often don’t address PFB or can make the symptoms worse. Laser hair removal, however, has been shown to be the most effective treatment for PFB.
Unfortunately, most lasers cause heat-induced skin damage on skin of color patients, which make up the majority of PFB cases. The Neo Elite by Aerolase is the safest option for reducing PFB on skin of color patients as it is a 650-microsecond Nd:YAG laser.
✔️Its unique 650-microsecond pulse duration means the laser’s energy passes through the skin quickly and doesn’t overheat the epidermal melanin.
✔️It selectively targets melanin in the underlying hair and follicle and hyperpigmentation surrounding the lesion.
✔️It doesn’t cause pain, burning, or pigmentary changes and requires no skin cooling.
TREATMENT PLAN
Most people can expect a 90-95% reduction in hairs and improvement in pigmentation and inflammation in 4-8 treatments. These are done in 4-8 week intervals. An annual touch up treatment is usually desired.
